Five Makeup Trends that Should be Left in 2018

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder – a true statement if ever there was one. And with so many “beholders” creating makeup trends that appeal to their own personal sense of beauty, it sure keeps things interesting. It can also lead to trends that inspire a collective “Ugh” and the polite suggestion to leave that one behind. To illustrate our point, we’ve collected 5 ditch-worthy makeup trends that we think belong in rearview mirror.

De-clumping

Not quite the same as decluttering, this unfortunate fad is a throwback to the 60’s and requires you to apply your mascara in thick, caked-on clumps. Kind of an edgy, rocker vibe. But why risk losing your precious eyelashes in those clumps?

Less brow-sing

Halo brows, fishtail brows, brows so thick your head feels heavy. It’s time to keep it real – really simple, that is. Whether your brows are thick or thin, dark or pale, just say no to anything other than simply grooming them to the natural lines of your face.

No full-face sparkle

Yeah, glitter has been everywhere for some time now. Cheekbones, eyelids, lips. But all of the above? No thank you. Turns out there is such a thing as too much sparkle.

No more catching the red-eye…

The red eyeshadow, that is. When did red around the eyes mean anything other than allergies? Let go of the zombie apocalypse, folks, and save the red for your lips.

Overly-contoured

There’s contouring and there’s trying to change the dimensions of your face completely by means of contouring. The whole point of contouring is to accentuate or downplay your own features… but with a little subtlety, please and thank you.

There are plenty of good, bad, and downright ugly trends that have their moment in the spotlight. And the next one up might be exactly what you’ve been looking for.
