2023 Skincare Routine
With so many skincare products out there today, it can be hard to know not only which products you need to use, but also, in what ORDER. Well, we’re making it simple for you. Honestly, most people can get by with just three skincare products – a gentle cleanser, a simply fragrance-free moisturizer, and a sunscreen with at least 30 SPF. But, let’s face it, most of us need more than that. So here are some of the products you may want to include in your skincare routine, and the order in which they should be applied.
Note: when considering the order of product application, the rule to follow is to apply the lightest product first and the heaviest product last. For example, if you put on a thick moisturizer and then applied your favorite serum, the moisturizer would prevent the serum from soaking into your skin, making it ineffective.
Your New Skincare Routine
Your daily routine should go in the following order. Again, remember, you don’t have to use all these products. Maybe you don’t need spot treatments, or you don’t need the extra moisture of a face oil. Pick the products that best fit your needs and go from there.
Step 1: Cleanser
Step 2: Toner
Step 3: Serums (like Vitamin C or Hyaluronic Acid)
Step 4: Eye Cream
Step 5: Spot Treatments (for acne or dark spots)
Step 6: Moisturizer
Step 7: Face Oil
Step 8: Sunscreen
You can follow this same routine at night as well but skip the sunscreen and apply your retinol night cream as Step 7, followed by face oil to keep the retinol from drying your skin. You’ll wake up with a refreshed glow.
