Top Ways to Beat Frizzy Hair

If you’re one of the fortunate few who have never had a frizzy hair on your head, you probably don’t have a collection of “bad hair day hats” and you probably don’t even blink if the humidity level rises. But for those of us who are in a daily battle with frizz, when summer hits and the humidity rises, out come the hats while the war on frizz continues! Fortunately, we’ve got some weapons that will help you conquer your untamed mane and keep it frizz-free.
Cut out the fluff – Literally. Keep the ends of your hair trimmed to avoid the nasty old split ends that are the cornerstone of frizz. So regular trims, especially in humid conditions are essential.
Throw in the towel – The ordinary cotton towel that is. Drying your hair roughly with a cotton towel and break your cuticles and cause major frizz! Try a micro-fiber towel and be gentle when you dry your hair.
Down to your roots – When you blow dry your hair, dry it to the roots completely. Leaving it damp is an invitation to frizz to drop by as soon as your head hits the humidity. Remember to dry your hair with the grain in a downward position to help keep your cuticles smooth.
Hold off on the heat – We understand not using your flat iron or blow dryer is a terrifying concept. But over time, hot tools can wreak havoc on your hair and letting it hair dry whenever you can give it a much-needed break from damaging heat.
Product that protects – Your hair deserves the best, so invest in high quality hair products that protect it from the heat. Applying a heat protection spray before using hot tools will minimize heat damage. You can also try a good anti-humidity spray or anti-frizz serum to keep the frizz at bay.
Cool it down – A common practice in the salon, giving your hair a final cool rinse after shampooing will close those cuticles and minimize frizz during blow drying.
Even cooler still – Another stylist go-to to combat frizz is to give your hair a cool “finishing” blast during a blowout. As you dry each section of hair, the cool blast of air eliminates frizz and sets your style.
So, don’t worry when the temperature goes up and the moisture in the air goes up with it, you can still achieve frizz-freedom.
